The Chapel's Mural
The external artwork on the Chapel follows the theme of "Inner Landscapes" of the soul, as well as reflecting the Chapel's seaside environs.
The "Mountain of Care" takes the form of a wave, crowned by the Dove of Peace.
White and Gold "Rivers of Freedom" flow down from the mountain.
Three separate panels form the "Sea of Tranquility". On the left, mermaids of Charity give to the less fortunate. The middle panel is a reminder of the importance of the family unit. On the right dolphins, representing both compassion and our need to care for the environment, surround and life a troubled soul toward the light of God.
The Artwork was commissioned by the then Minister of the Chapel, Rev. Jonathan Barker, and completed by local artist Tony Forbes in April 1996.
